Ralph B. Strickland, Jr. is Of Counsel with Smith, Rodgers & Strickland, PLLC, and Sheriff’s Attorney for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.  Mr. Strickland’s previous legal experience includes service as a Special Deputy Attorney General with the North Carolina Department of Justice, Assistant District Attorney for Durham County, Police Attorney for the Durham Police Department, and Legal Advisor for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.  Ralph is one of the most capable, entertaining, and revered classroom legal instructors in the history of the North Carolina Justice Academy, where he served as an Agency Legal Specialist for many years.  Mr. Strickland received his BS in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and his JD from the University of North Carolina School of Law.  He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar; the North Carolina Police Attorneys’ Association; the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association; a Lifetime Member of the North Carolina Safety/Security Health Care Council; a Lifetime Member of Mothers Against Drunk Driving; an Honorary Member of the North Carolina Forensic Association.  Mr. Strickland is a Vietnam Veteran.
